Interesting Thought… The terrorist attack in Texas this week underscores the potential threat we face from ‘lone wolf’ or, in this particular case a small number of individuals, committing terrorist acts in our local community.
For the last several months we have been developing a class designed to help you develop skills to enable you to fight back and increase your chances of surviving in the event of an attack like that. All it took in Texas was one person who was trained and willing to respond to defeat the attackers. With such training and the proper mindset you can respond and make a difference, protecting yourself and saving an untold number of lives.
This class, the Active Shooter/Terrorist Response Class, will be offered for the first time on Saturday June 20 at the Butterfield Trail Shooting Range in Las Cruces. You will need 200 rounds of handgun ammunition, holster, extra magazines, and comfortable clothing. Moderate physical activity will be required.
Cost of the class will be $140 and will include lunch and the amount of rifle ammunition you will need. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or Coralie at email@example.com for further information or to sign up for this class. Please note that this class is not for beginners. You must have a concealed carry license or an equivalent amount of training. There will be a limited number of slots for this initial class so sign up now!

I am doing Renewal and Refresher classes on request. If you need your Renewal or Refresher let me know and we’ll schedule your class. I have been doing these classes individually or in small groups for some time now and people seem to like this way of doing the classes.
If you are interested in a particular class that isn’t currently in our calendar, or have a group of friends you would like to take a class with, let me know and we’ll make it happen.
Defensive Handgun Class… Friday May 15 at the Sidney Paul Gordon Shooting Range in La Luz beginning at 8:00 am. This class has been requested by an individual who is willing to have others join him. We will be doing a variety of interesting drills to improve your defensive capabilities with your handgun. You must have a concealed carry license or the equivalent level of training since this class is not for beginners. If you are interested in joining us please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Personal, Individualized Firearms Training… If you are interested in personal, individualized firearms training for yourself, you and a group of your friends, or for your business contact me and I’d be happy to visit with you about meeting your training needs.
We’ll begin by consulting with you to determine what your training needs are or what you would like to accomplish. Together we’ll decide how to best meet those needs.
Any of the classes Riclin offers, from Individual Training Sessions, Concealed Carry, Defensive Handgun, Defensive Carbine and Shotgun classes, as well as Basic Firearms Training, can be done on a personal training basis for individuals, businesses or small groups. Classes can be tailored to meet your specific needs. Scheduling is very flexible.
Regular Monthly Announcements (Reminders)…
You need to take a Refresher (re-qualification) course two years after you receive your New Mexico concealed handgun license (if the current legislative session changes that I will let you know) and you need to take a Renewal class and apply to NMDPS for your concealed carry license to be renewed after four years. Take a look at your license periodically and make sure you take those classes. If you are in need of either the Refresher or Renewal classes, contact me and we can schedule your class.
To Learn Which Restaurants Sell Beer and Wine Only… You may carry your concealed handgun in a restaurant in New Mexico that is licensed to sell beer and wine only. This is known as a Restaurant License. Go to http://rldverification.rld.state.nm.us/Verification/Search.aspx?facility=Y and do a search. You can enter the name of the restaurant and see what kind of license they have, or you can get a list of all the restaurants with a restaurant license in that particular county. And remember… you cannot consume alcohol while you are carrying your concealed handgun.
Tip of the Month… Try this to help develop your sight alignment and trigger control…From a distance of 5 feet fire 1 round into your paper target. Then, taking your time and focusing on proper sight alignment and trigger control, fire 2 more rounds at that hole. Repeat. When you can get all three holes touching, move back a few steps and repeat the process. Keep moving back a few steps at a time whenever you can make all three holes touch each other. This is not as easy as you think. For an interesting variation, try doing this with your strong hand only and then your weak hand only.
In closing… I’d like to leave you with an interesting comment I saw on the Females with Firearms page on Facebook… ‘Remember the rule: If you would not go into an area without your gun, don’t go there with your gun’…there is lots of truth there…
