An Interesting Thought…From James Yeager on the GetoftheX forum…The Three Phases of a Gun Fight…1. The Gun Battle…2. The Court Battle…3. The Emotional Battle…What are YOU doing to PREPARE?

Bill to Allow Concealed Carry in New Mexico Restaurants with a Beer and Wine License has passed the legislature and been signed by the Governor. It will go into effect on July 1, 2010. Thank you for all your emails supporting this bill.

Individual or Specialized Classes…If you have specific needs not met by our regular classes, or are interested in a different kind of training, please get in touch with me. I’d be glad to work with you or your group. These classes can be one of our regular classes taught on an individual basis or a class can be set up to work with your particular needs or interests and around your schedule.

Concealed Carry in National Parks…You should contact the individual parks for information about how they are responding to this. The White Sands National Monument has a very well done flyer which provides a great deal of information. For a FAQ from the National Park Service on concealed carry in National Parks, go to

Reminder about your Refresher or Renewal…Check the expiration date on your license to see if you need to take a Refresher (2 years after the issue date of your license) or a Renewal (2 months prior to the expiration date on your license). Many people with 4 year concealed carry licenses are coming up for renewal so take a look at your license and see where you are in terms of needing either the Refresher or the Renewal and give me a call. It might be wise to mark the appropriate dates on your calendar (I did) so you don’t forget. Contact me if you need either class or if you have any questions.

Tip of the Month…Be Sure Your Handgun Is Unloaded When You Dryfire!!! This is from a student who recently had an accidental discharge in his living room…he had finished cleaning his handgun and loaded it, chambering a round. He then removed the magazine, was distracted by a friend sitting nearby, and then pulled the trigger, forgetting to remove the round from the chamber. The noise was deafening…the bullet passed through the window, through a lawn chair and came to rest in the back wall. He is an experienced handgunner, and says that it only takes an instant to become distracted and do something foolish. He asks that you Learn From His Mistake!!!

In closing…This newsletter is about a week late and I apologize for that. I’ve been having computer problems and, in theory, they have been resolved. I hope to be able to finish collating the information from the survey you all responded to several weeks ago and I will let you know the results. I hope to see you at the range!
