An Interesting Thought…You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming…from Randy Cain as seen on the DefensiveCarry.com forum…he makes a very valid point here…it is unlikely that when you need your handgun the situation will in a controlled range-like environment where you have lots of time and no distractions…rather it will likely be needed in a situation similar to the one described above and it will be very chaotic.

September Concealed Carry Class…The September Concealed Carry Class will be held on September 12 & 13. If you are interested, or know of anyone else who might be interested in taking the class, please have them contact Richard at riclin@tularosa.net or (575) 430-3040.

Refresher Class…We will be offering a Refresher Class Saturday September 19 from 8:00 until 10:00. Remember, you must do the Refresher at the mid point of you license. You have two months before the mid point to two months after the mid point to do the Refresher. Contact Richard at riclin@tularosa.net or (575) 430-3040 if you would like to take this class.

Please Note…Riclin Firearms Training reached the point where a re-organization was necessary. This has led to the creation of Riclin Firearms Training, LLC, a Limited Liability Company. I greatly appreciate the support of each of you. It is your support that made Riclin Firearms Training, LLC successful and enabled it to evolve to what it is today!

Tip of the Month…From Dave Vaughan of Threat Solutions Consulting…’The ‘plus one’ rule (similar to Murphy’s Law) states that no matter how many people you have observed, or dealt with, there is ALWAYS at least one more assailant that you haven’t seen yet. Immediately start looking for more when you notice the first. Never stay completely locked in on the one threat you are most concerned with. Always try to move to a better observation and defensive position whenever something doesn’t feel right.’

Supporters…Thank you to all our supporters. Larry at Fire Power Gun and Pawn of Ruidoso (257-3943) and Mac at the Tularosa Trading Post (437-0709) located between Alamogordo and Tularosa support Riclin students by giving discounts and passing out information about our classes. James at Basin Firearms (430-0541) and Wyatt at the Gun Rack (443-1528) will make you a good deal and can order whatever you want. Robert at the Wal Mart (434-5870) Sporting Good Department also supports Riclin Firearms Training. We encourage you to patronize these fine businesses that cater to shooters.

Individual or Specialized Classes…If you have specific needs not met by our regular classes, or are interested in a different kind of training, please get in touch with me. I’d be glad to work with you or your group. These classes can be one of our regular classes taught on an individual basis or can be set up to work with your particular needs or interests and around your schedule.

OPSA…The Otero Practical Shooting Association hosts regular monthly matches. They are very supportive of first-time shooters and will provide as much advice and assistance as you need to enjoy the match. For more information, go to their website at www.opshooter.org. And while you are at it, please consider joining OPSA and supporting their efforts to provide a variety of matches in the local area.

In closing…We have been seeing more women in our classes. This, I think, is a good thing. I feel that women are more and more in need of this type of training. If you are interested in any sort of firearms training for women, please let me know. We’d be happy to work with you on your particular needs.
