Night Time is Sexy

“Night Time is Sexy !!”

Saturday – Nov. 18, 2017
4:00 PM until approximately 9:00 PM
Butterfield Trail Shooting Range
(I-10 west of Las Cruces, Exit 127 – Corralitos Exit)

This will be a different sort of night class. You will learn to use a flashlight with your handgun at night, as well as shooting at night without a light. We are adding scenarios to this class, including one dealing with an animal attack, a bedroom scene, and a parking lot ambush.  These have been designed to be as realistic as possible so don’t miss it!

This class for advanced students only. Concealed Carry training or other advanced training required.

Cost for the class will be $75

You will need

  • a centerfire handgun,
  • a holster,
  • extra magazines or speed loaders,
  • a flashlight that you can operate one-handed,
  • and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition… but bring more just in case

Concealed Carry Drills Review Class

Once you take your concealed carry class and receive your license, you still need to practice to develop and maintain your defensive shooting skills. This class is a review of the basic defensive shooting drills taught in the Riclin Firearms Training, LLC, Concealed Carry Class and is intended to help you maintain your defensive shooting skills or to introduce you to some new skills if you have very little training or experience with defensive handgun shooting. Students from other concealed carry classes are welcome and encouraged to attend as well

Shooting From The Ground Class

A defensive situation can end up with you on the ground. In this class you will learn a variety of different ground shooting techniques, including shooting from various positions while on the ground, shooting as you get off the ground, moving after you get up off the ground, shooting prone and supine, and a variety of other interesting skills. Your defensive training is not complete until you have mastered shooting from the ground.

Orientation to Carrying a Concealed Handgun in New Mexico

New Mexico accepts concealed carry permits from many other states. This two hour class is designed for the person with a permit from another state accepted by New Mexico to be introduced to what they need to know to safely and legally carry their concealed handgun in New Mexico.

The course consists of the following topics:

  • Review of Firearms Safety
  • ‘Thou Shall Not Carry…’ (where you can and cannot carry your concealed handgun)
  • Overview of the New Mexico Statues on Concealed Carry and the Use of Deadly Force
  • Ways to Avoid Becoming the Victim of a Criminal Attack
  • Five Rules of Concealed Carry

 

Defensive Carbine Class

The Defensive Carbine class is for the gun enthusiast who is interested in the defensive use of the semi-automatic carbine in a home or urban environment and wants to improve their carbine/rifle defensive shooting skills.

We will do a variety of handling and defensive drills including malfunction drills, shooting in close quarters, shooting in various positions including prone and supine, shooting on the move, transition from carbine to handgun, and utilizing cover. In addition to the various shooting drills, a discussion of mindset and a review of the New Mexico law on the use of deadly force in included.

This is not a beginner’s class. The student must already be very familiar with their carbine and comfortable with its use. Basic shooting and gun handling skills are required to take this class. By the end of the class you will be surprised and pleased with what you will be able to do at close range with a carbine.

Equipment and supplies needed:

  • An open mind
  • Semi-automatic carbine with sling
  • At least 2 magazines (more is better)
  • Approximately 350 rounds of ammunition (bring more, you never know what we might do)
  • Handgun with holster and 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Water
  • A sack lunch and snacks
  • Sun screen
  • Ground cloth to lie on

Night Shooting Class

Approximately 70% of self defense encounters occur in low light or night time situations. You need to be able to shoot effectively in these low light situations. And since most self defense situations happen unexpectedly, you may or may not have your flashlight with you when the time comes. This class will introduce you to techniques to help you prevail.

We begin in the late afternoon, taking advantage of the daylight to teach the basic techniques. We shoot in the waning light as it gets dark to give you experience shooting in a variety of light conditions. Then you will have the opportunity to shoot at night both with and without a flashlight. We will finish by shooting the New Mexico concealed carry qualification course. This is an interesting and challenging class.

You will need a center fire handgun, holster, extra magazines or speed loaders, a flashlight that you can operate one handed, and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition (bring more just in case).

 

Women’s Advanced Defensive Handgun Class

To enable women to be safer in an uncertain world, the Women’s Advanced Handgun Class provides women an opportunity to improve their defensive handgun skills beginning with basic firearm safety review and developing a defensive mindset. Geared specifically towards women, the class will also review of the New Mexico law on the use of deadly force.

Basic and advanced shooting and gun handling techniques will be drilled extensively. A variety of scenarios will be presented to give the women a realistic perspective of the defensive use of a handgun.

Because many assaults against women occur at night or during low light hours, the class will include shooting at night to enable to students to become familiar with shooting after dark.

This is not a beginner’s class. The student must already be very familiar with their handgun and comfortable with its use. Basic shooting and gun handling skills are required to take this class. By the end of the class you will be surprised and pleased with what you will be able to do with a handgun.

  • Center fire handgun and holster (must be concealable…covering with a shirt is OK)
  • Approximately 250 rounds of ammunition (bring more, you never know what we might do)
  • At least 2 magazines or speed loaders/strips…more is better
  • A flashlight you can operate with one hand
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Water
  • A sack lunch and snacks
  • Sun screen
  • Ground cloth to lie on

 

Concealed Carry Class

The Concealed Carry Class offered by Riclin Firearms Training, LLC meets the training requirement of the New Mexico Concealed Handgun Carry Act. Completion of this class enables the student to apply for a New Mexico Concealed Handgun Carry License. Topics for the 15 hour course, which is approved by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, include:

•    Knowledge of and safe handling of single and double action revolvers and semiautomatic handguns
•    Safe storage of handguns and child safety
•    Safe handgun shooting fundamentals
•    Live shooting of a handgun on a firing range (includes qualification firing)
•    Identification of ways to develop and maintain handgun shooting skills
•    Federal, state and local criminal and civil laws pertaining to the purchase, ownership, transportation, use and possession of handguns
•    Techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to control a violent confrontation
•    Techniques for nonviolent dispute resolution

Additional topics include ways to conceal your handgun, sources for additional information and an interesting discussion of the OODA loop concept of reaction time. Instruction is individualized to each participant as much as possible while keeping within the course guidelines.

Participants will receive a copy of the Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home produced by the National Rifle Association as well as a student manual.

The shooting drills are designed to expose the student to a variety of techniques, situations and scenarios to develop their shooting skills. Beginning with basic accuracy drills, we evolve into dynamic movement techniques and shooting on the move. Once the student has completed the shooting drills they shoot the qualification course.

Qualification with both the semi-auto and the revolver are included as part of the class. Students are expected to provide their own handguns and ammunition. Loaner handguns are available if a student has not yet purchased their handgun. Students who do not own a handgun are encouraged to NOT purchase a handgun until after they complete the class. During the class they will have the opportunity to handle and shoot several different handguns. This is an excellent opportunity to find a handgun that meets their particular needs.

Concealed Carry Refresher Class

Concealed Carry Refresher Class

While the New Mexico Concealed Handgun Carry License is valid for four years, the license holder must take a Refresher Class to re-qualify two years after their license in issued. The Refresher Class is required two years after you receive your license and requires that you requalify with the handguns on your license. This two hour class includes a review of basic firearms safety and the legal aspects of deadly force.

A variety of shooting drills, similar to the ones used for the basic concealed carry class, are completed prior to the re-qualification shooting.

Students who took their initial Concealed Carry Class from another instructor are welcome to take the Refresher Class offered by Riclin Firearms Training, LLC.

Concealed Carry Renewal Class

Concealed Carry Renewal Class

The New Mexico Concealed Handgun Carry license is a four year license. The Renewal Class meets the training requirement for renewal of that license.

The class is four hours long and includes a review of firearms safety, the legal aspects of concealed carry including a review of the use of deadly force, and ways to avoid conflict.  It also includes a variety of drills similar to the ones used for the basic concealed carry class as well as the required qualification course.

Students who took their initial and/or refresher Concealed Carry Classes from another instructor are welcome to take the Renewal Class offered by Riclin Firearms Training, LLC.
